LOS ANGELES, CA --- In Games 6 and 7 of the team's 11-game California road trip, the Howard softball team (1-13) saw its current losing streak extended to 11 games after the Lady Bison fell to Loyola Marymount University, 10-0 and 10-7, on Wednesday afternoon at LMU's Smith Field.
In Game 1 of the doubleheader with LMU, the Lady Bison only managed one hit but were not far out of the game early on as Loyola Marymount scored a pair of runs in the second inning on a RBI double. However, Howard's inability to limit large scoring innings hurt the team in the fourth - the Lady Bison gave up a total of eight runs on five hits in the inning. The shutout was the team's third of the season.
In Game 2, Howard would perform better overall, recording 13 hits - including the team's first home run of the season from senior
Jenny Ly. Ly was one of seven different players to record a hit in the game.Â
Five players - Ly, senior
Al'Asia Davis,
redshirt junior Jasmine Gammons, sophomore
Alex Flynn and sophomore
Sade Estes - each record at least two hits in the game while six players accounted for at least one RBI - Gammons (2), Ly (1), Davis (1),Â
and sophomores
Imani Ballard (1),
Milan Poindexter (1), &
Deja Henderson (1).
Estes led the way for Howard, going 3-for-5 with a run scored. Ly went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The team's seven runs were the second-most scored this season.
