Howard Closes Out Regular Season at NJIT

Newark, NJ—The Howard University men's basketball team will close out the 2015 regular season tonight when it faces NJIT in a non-conference match in the Fleisher Athletic Center.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8 pm.

The game was originally supposed to be a home game for the Bison but because of scheduling conflicts with the Inaugurattion of Howard President, Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick, it was moved to New Jersey.

The Bison (16-14) are coming off a big 61-59 overtime win over Norfolk State on Monday that clinched the fourth seed in theupcoming MEAC Tournament, March 9-14 inNorfolk, VA.

In the game, James "J-Byrd" Daniel, III came up big, scoring a game-high 19 points, including the game-winning three pointer atthe buzzer. The Bison also got 13 points from James "JT" Miller.

The 16 victories and the 10 conference wins are the most by Howard since the 2001-02 season.

The Highlanders (17-11) are Independent and in their last game on Saturday, they routed Sarah Lawrence, 90-55.  NJIT is one of the top three-point shooting teams in the country, led by Damon Lynn (17. 3 ppg).  Three of Lynn's teammates average in double figures.

NJIT, which is 12-2 at home this season, has played three MEAC teams in UMES, Hampton and Delaware State.  They won all three games.
The Highlanders have a victory over Michigan this season on their resume and, as an Independent, hope to geta post-season bid.
