WASHINGTON, DC --- The Howard softball (8-18) finished its first slate of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and home games with a convincing 8-3 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday afternoon at Nationals Jr. Park.
The victory gave the Lady Bison a win in a MEAC series for the first time since taking two of three from Nolfolk State on  April 25, 2012.
Howard's stellar game can be summed up with one stat: for only the second time all season, the Lady Bison scored at least one run in every inning played. The other time came in HU's 20-3 victory over Elizabeth City State on March 17.
After a sacrifice fly by junior
Dominique Lawrence tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first, Howard consistently pulled away each inning. The scoring came as follows:
- 2nd:
Briana Banks scored off wild pitch (reached base on a triple);
Imani Ballard RBI singleÂ
- 3rd:
Milan Poindexter solo homerun;
Sade Estes RBI triple
- 4th: Lawrence RBI single
- 5th:
Al'Asia Davis RBI single
- 6th: Poindexter draws hit by pinch walk, RBI
Ballard led all players by going 3-for-4 on the day with a RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Poindexter, Lawrence, Banks and Estes all finished with two hits each - the former duo going 2-for-3 and the latter duo finishing 2-for-4.
NEXT UP: Howard will continue its MEAC schedule next weekend on the road when the Lady Bison take on Norfolk State from March 28-29.
