ELIZABETH CITY, NC --- The Howard softball team (6-16) completed a three-game road sweep of the Elizabeth City State University Vikings with a convincing 13-1 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Enfield Park.
The Lady Bison, winners of four straight, posted double digit runs for the third straight game - the first time since the 2007 campaign that Howard scored 10 or more runs three consecutive contests.
The 44 runs the Lady Bison scored in the three-game sweep are the most in three games over the last 10 seasons since HU scored 40 runs in three games against Winston-Salem State (1 game) and Coppin State (2) during the same 2007 season and are only eclipsed by a four-game stretch that season where Howard erupted for 63 runs against Maryland Eastern Shore and Coppin State (11, 21, 21 and 10 runs).
The trio of senior
Al'Asia Davis, sophomore
Imani Ballard and freshman
Brooklyn Emory did most of the damage for Howard. Davis and Ballard singlehandedly doubled the Lady Bison's season home run total by hitting one each in the game while going 2-for-4 on the day. Davis drove in two RBIs and scored three runs while Ballard had a team-high four RBIs and scored a pair of runs.
Emory went 1-for-4 in the game but drove in three RBIs and recorded a double.
Sophomore starter
Alex Flynn earned her first win of the season after going five innings of two-hit, one-run ball while striking out four batters and walking none.
