Senior Spotlight: Women's Volleyball

WASHINGTON, DC --- Tonight is Senior Night for Howard Women's Volleyball, as the Bison take on the Morgan State Bears in their final home match at 7 p.m. in Burr Gymnasium.

It will also be the final home match in "The Burr" for senior Jaleeza Stoudermire, who is this focus of our next "Senior Spotlight" segment.

WHAT MADE YOU COME TO HOWARD?
I came to Howard because I wanted a more diverse school experience away from home where I could meet people from all parts of the world. The School of Business at Howard was what really drew me here. Knowing that a lot of Fortune 500 companies recruited here really excited me because of the endless amount of opportunities.

WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE MOMENTS FROM YOUR TIME AT HOWARD?
One of my favorite moments at Howard was definitely my freshman Homecoming (in 2012). It was the first time I really got the full Howard family experience. The Yard was packed with celebrities even when it started raining. All of the alumni came back to watch the shows. It was just wonderful seeing everybody happy and friendly.

WHAT HAVE YOU ENJOYED MOST ABOUT YOUR SENIOR SEASON?
I enjoyed the fact that we overcame many obstacles in my senior season to still end up #1 in the conference. Being able to play on a team full of strong women who were able to keep the end goal in mind no matter what really makes me happy to know that I was a part of it.

WHAT WILL YOU MISS MOST ABOUT BEING A HOWARD STUDENT-ATHLETE?
I will probably miss staying active all the time and doing everything with my teammates.

ANY OTHER WORDS YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOUR OTHER TEAMMATES OR THE BISON FAITHFUL?
Stay persistent and keep working as a team. Know that everybody works differently and understanding how to communicate with each and every single person on your teams from here on out is the absolute key. If you keep the end goal in mind, nothing can come in the way of that.
