- Howard is eligible to receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament if it wins the tournament (the Bison conceded the bid to runner-up Prairie View A&M last season because of their first year status in the SWAC). The bid would secure the first NCAA Tournament appearance in the program's history.
- Howard has defeated quaterfinal opponent UAPB twice since joining the SWAC:
6-0 on 10/26/2014 and
1-0 on October 16 of this year.
- The Bison's matchup with Mississippi Valley State pits the league's top two goal scorers (No. 1 Nykosi Simmons, No. 2
Kela Gray) and top two offenses (No. 1 MVSU, No. 2 Howard). MVSU's Simmons is the nation's leading scorer (20 goals, 1.18/game) while Gray is tied for ninth with 17 goals (0.85). Valley is averaging 4.00 goals per game while Howard is logging 3.20 goals per game. Howard
defeated MVSU 3-1 on 9/28/2014 and
4-1 on October 23 this season.
