Howard Hosts North Carolina Central on Senior Day

Washington, DC---Howard University will try to send out its 14 seniors with a victory in their last home game when the Bison entertain North Carolina Central in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference showdown at Greene Stadium tomorrow at 1:10 pm.  The game will be webcast on www.whbc963hd3.com.  Trevin Jones will call the action along with his co-host, Michael Lindo.

The senior members of the team, who will be playing in a Bison uniform at home for the last time on their careers, will be honored in the pre-game, starting at approximately 12:40 pm.  There will be a special honor for former Bison running back Terrence Tusan, who lost his life last year following the season.  Tusan would have been a senior this year.

"It is going to be very emotional for not only the players who played with him, but also for the coaches, students and people on campus whose life he affected," said Howard head coach Gary "Flea" who recruited Tusan.  "We want to handle our business and send out our seniors with a victory and also honoring Tusan and what he brought to this program."

The Bison (1-8, 1-5 in the MEAC) will have their hands full with the Eagles (6-3, 5-1 in the MEAC), who are in the race for the MEAC title for the second straight year.  NCCU boasts one of the top quarterbacks in the conference in Malcolm Bell and one of the top running backs in red-shirt freshman running back Dorrell McClain.

"Central is a good football team," said Harrell, who dropped a 27-22 decision to the Eagles last year in Durham, NC.  "They are very well coached and they have good offense, an aggressive and physical defense and good special teams play.  They are in the race for the MEAC title so we know we have our work cut out for us."

The Bison defense has shown marked improvement each week despite a number of injuries.  The constant for the defense has been the play of linebackers David Lee and Jalen Day and of the secondary quartet of Craig Johnson, Travon Hunt, Kenneth Russ and Jacob Bennett who have combined for 13 takeaways and numerous tackles for losses.

"When you watch this Howard team, you realize that their 1-8 record is deceiving," said NCCU head coach Jerry Mack.  "They are playing hard and they have been in some close games.  I am sure that they will be ready to play since it is Senior Day.  We know that we have our work cut out for us."

NEXT UP:  The Bison close out the 2015 season at Delaware State next Saturday at 2 pm while the Eagles travel to Greensboro, NC for a big showdown with their rival, North Carolina A&T at 1 pm.
