Carlton Selected in 2015 NBA D-League Draft

WASHINGTON, DC --- Former Howard men's basketball standout James Carlton was selected in the 2015 National Basketball Association Development League (NBA D-League) Draft on Saturday evening.

Carlton was the second pick of the sixth round by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the NBDL affiliate of the Indiana Pacers. A few hours after the completion of the Draft, Carlton's rights were traded to the Oklahoma City Blue (the Thunder's D-League affiliate) via a three-team deal.

The 6-8, 220 pound forward from Winterville, NC played his senior season for the Bison and emerged as one of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's top players in 2014-15. Carlton averaged 15.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game on a Howard team that posted its best record (16-16, 10-6 MEAC) in over a decade. He shot over 47 percent from the field, recorded eight double-doubles and scored in double figures 24 times en route to earning First Team All-MEAC, First Team All-NABC and Second Team BOXTOROW Division I All-American honors.
