DOVER, DE --- The Howard women's volleyball team won its seventh consecutive match on Sunday afternoon, defeating Delaware State University in four sets to stay atop the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division standings.The Bison offensive attack was led by outside hitters
Khaila Donaldson,
Katherine Broussard and
Courtney Dalton, who all recorded at least 14 kills. Donaldson paced Howard with 15 kills and added 11 digs for her 11th double-double of the season while Broussard and Dalton each had 14 kills (with Dalton's total setting a new season high for the freshman).
For the first time all season, three players recorded 10 or more assists in a match. Freshman setter
Tamia Dockery had a match-high 29, while junior
Briana Jackson added 12 and junior libero
Morgan Marlbrough had the first double-digit assist match of her career with 10 helpers.
Marlbrough and junior middle blocker
Janaya Hampton were the defensive anchors for the Bison, leading all players with 17 digs and seven blocks, respectively. Marlbrough earned the first double-double of her career with her efforts.
Howard (12-13, 8-1 MEAC) split the first two sets with Delaware State (2-19, 0-6 MEAC) before taking the final two in increasingly dominant fashion.
