Late Rally Falls Short for Women’s Soccer Against Mount St. Mary’s

Box Score EMMITSBURG, MD --- A late rally by the Howard women's soccer team came up just short as the Lady Bison lost to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers, 3-1, on Friday evening at Waldron Family Stadium.

A goal in the 81st minute by sophomore defender Sandra Bond brought Howard (0-7-1) within one goal (2-1) and provided hope of forcing overtime with The Mount (1-9-0). However, Mountaineer junior forward Emma Blair's second goal of the night – a penalty kick score less than 40 seconds after Howard's goal – sealed the Lady Bison's fate.

Howard played a more assertive game, besting The Mount in shots (19-12), shots on goal (11-5) and corners (7-1). Yet, as in the five previous one-goal games the Lady Bison played in, their early deficit would be too much to overcome.

The Lady Bison will play their second to last non-conference matchup on Tuesday, September 23 at 4 p.m. when the team takes on Robert Morris on the road.
