Longwood Spoils Women’s Soccer Senior Night

Box Score WASHINGTON, DC --- A late second half goal spoiled Senior Night for the Howard women's soccer team as the Lady Bison fell to the Longwood Lancers, 1-0, Tuesday evening at Greene Stadium.

Prior to the game, Howard honored its seven graduating seniors – Kelsi Bobbitt, Ayanna Carter, Kyra Dickinson, Treschelle Gibson-Serrette, Jeseca Hinds, Natasha Moore and Nia Walcott - as they played their last game at Greene. The Lady Bison will play the remainder of their home games against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponents at a neutral site in Alabama.

Each senior was accompanied by her friends and family during their presentations, along with head coach Brent Leiba, Athletic Director Louis "Skip" Perkins and Senior Associate Athletic Director Shelley Davis.

Unfortunately for Howard (0-6-1), who played well throughout the game, a 73rd minute scoring connection from Haylea Witz by Amanda Spencer of Longwood (4-2-1) would put a damper on the festivities.

The Lady Bison outshot Longwood (13-11) and set up more corner kicks (3-1) but the Lancers were able to put more shots on goal (9-2), which put more pressure on Dicksinson to make stops. She answered the call, knocking away every shot sans the lone goal.

Howard will return to action on the road on Friday, September 19 at 7 p.m. as the Lady Bison take on Mount St. Mary's.
