Georgetown Sweeps Women's Volleyball at DC Challenge

Box Score FAIRFAX, VA --- Howard women's volleyball suffered a second setback in as many games as the Hoyas of Georgetown University swept the Lady Bison, 3-0, in Howard's final match in the DC Volleyball Challenge.

Sophomore outside hitter Katherine Broussard and senior middle blocker Assata Conway each logged five kills for Howard (1-2), who lost back to back games for the first time since October 18 & 20, 2013. Broussard added nine digs and both players had two block assists.

Senior libero Allyson Lods had a team high 12 digs while senior setter Stephanie Shultis assisted on 19 kills.

Howard struggled to keep pace with Georgetown (2-1) after the early stages of each set as the team suffered from an uncharacteristly high percentage of errors - the team nearly had as many attack errors (23) as kills (24) and the +1 differential was easily the team's lowest of the early season (+19 vs George Mason and American).

While the team's weekend results may not be to their liking, a silver lining can be found - the Lady Bison began the 2013 season with the same record after falling and defeating the same teams en route to their record 21-11 campaign.

Howard will look to repeat more positive history  when they return to action on Tuesday, September 2 when the Lady Bison take on LaSalle University at 7 p.m. Howard played the Explorers after the DC Volleyball Challenge on September 4 last season and came away with a 3-1 victory to even their record at 2-2.
