MORAGA, CA --- Redshirt sophomore guard
Te'Shya Heslip and senior forward
Cheyenne Brown combined to score 27 points in the Howard women's basketball team's 67-53 loss to the University of Wyoming Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Saint Mary's College Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic.
Heslip scored 12 of her 14 in the second half and added four rebounds, four assists and three steals. The Dumfries, VA native was also named to the Classic All-Tournament Team.
After her double-digit scoring run ended with a four-point performance against Saint Mary's on Friday, Brown netted 13 points and added five rebounds.
Junior center
Victoria Gonzales scored eight first-half points and was on pace to record her first double-double of the season when she exited the game with 11:49 left in the game due to an arm injury.
Wyoming's Marquelle Dent poured in a career-best 32 points to lead the Cowgirls in a contest they never trailed in, the second straight game Howard has failed to hold a lead at any stage of the game.
The six-game losing streak Howard (0-6) finds itself on matches the longest winless stretch the Lady Bison have dealt with in Head Coach Tennille Adams' two-year tenure. Howard also closed the 2013-14 regular season with six straight losses from February 15 to March 6 before going 1-1 at the 2014 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.
NEXT UP: Howard returns to the East Coast to take a trip to Virginia for an 11 a.m. contest with Old Dominion on December 3. The early start time is in conjunction with ODU's Education Day for local students.
