BALTIMORE, MD --- The Howard women's volleyball team's run to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship came to an end as the Lady Bison were defeated, 3-0, by the reigning MEAC Champion Hampton Lady Pirates on Sunday afternoon at the Coppin State Physical Education Complex.
For Howard (20-11), the trip to the Championship
game - its first since winning it all in 1994 - represents another step in the progression of the program under the helm of MEAC Coach of the Year
Shaun Kupferberg. Over the last two seasons, Howard has gone 41-22 with a pair of MEAC Tournament appearances, a share of the 2014 Northern Division title, four All-MEAC First Team selections, four Second and Third team honors, the 2013 Rookie of the Year (sophomore outside hitter
Katherine Broussard) and the respect of the entire conference.
For Hampton (21-10), the victory gives them the MEAC title and NCAA Tournament automatic bid for the second straight season.
Broussard led Howard with a double-double of 14 kills (on a .560 hitting percentage) and 11 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Khaila Donaldson added 11 kills and eight digs and senior middle blocker
Assata Conway had 10 kills and eight total blocks. Senior setter
Stephanie Shultis finished with 28 assists. Senior libero Allyson Lod led the Lady Bison with 13 digs.
