NEWARK, NJ --- The Howard women's volleyball team suffered a surprising 3-0 non-conference defeat at the hands of the New Jersey Institute of Technology Friday evening in their regular season finale.
The setback snapped Howard's nine-game winning streak and will send the Lady Bison into next week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament with an overall record of 18-10 (11-1 MEAC).
Sophomore middle blocker
Whitney Fields was the lone bright spot on the offensive end of Howard, notching seven kills while hiting .462 and committing only one error.
Freshman outside hitter
Khaila Donaldson struggled in the contest, logging only six kills - ending her current 10+ kills streak at 12 games - but committing seven errors. She did lead all players in digs with 11 while senior libero had 10 of her own and senior setter
Stephanie Shultis had 20 assists, four kills and three digs.
Howard's next matchup will be as the No. 2 North Seed in the MEAC Tournament. The Lady Bison will face No. 3 South Seed North Carolina A&T on Friday, November 21 at 7 p.m. Check back to www.HUBison.com for more information on the Tournament.
