NEWARK, NJ --- The Howard men's soccer team took its first defeat as a member of the Sun Belt Conference, dropping a 5-0 decision to fellow affiliate member New Jersey Institute of Technology.
The setback drops Howard's record to 2-13-2 (1-1-1 SBC) while NJIT improved to 7-5-4 (2-1 SBC) after their Senior Day victory.
Howard played the majority of the game without senior goalkeeper
Eric Hamilton. The Bison's primary netminder was given a red card in the eighth minute of the contest because of a hand ball. Sophomore
Jordan Austin filled in for Hamilton but the Bison played a man down for 82-plus minutes.
Howard will host Georgia State for Senior Night on Halloween at 7 p.m., where the team will honor its five seniors.
