Southern Snaps Women's Soccer's SWAC Unbeaten Streak

Box Score BATON ROUGE, LA --- The Howard women's soccer team saw its six-game winning streak and five-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) unbeaten stretch snapped Sunday afternoon as the Lady Bison fell to Southern University, 1-0.

The loss denied the Lady Bison (6-8-1, 5-1 SWAC) their seventh win of the season, which would set a new record for the program under head coach Brent Leiba.

Both teams were scoreless until the 66th minute when Southern (4-8-1, 4-0-1) took advantage of a yellow card assessed to junior midfielder Dytria Ruddy. The foul set up a penalty kick for SU's Jami Blackston, which she converted at the 65:53 mark.
