WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Goals by freshman forward Kelsi Bobbitt and junior defender Treschelle Gibson-Serrette pushed the Howard University Women's Soccer team to its first victory of the 2013, a 2-0 win over Virginia Military Institute on Monday evening at Greene Stadium.

Howard (1-1-1) and VMI (0-5) played even throughout the contest – both teams finished with nine shots - but it was the Lady Bison that took advantage of their limited opportunities.

In the 27^th minute, Bobbitt put away the first goal of the game after crossing the net and scoring on the left side to make the score 1-0. HU would add insurance in the 76^th minute after a VMI foul on a Nia Walcott corner kick led to a Howard penalty kick chance that Gibson-Serrette converted with ease.

HU returns to Greene Stadium for its third consecutive home game on Friday, September 6 when the Lady Bison welcome Wagner College to Washington, DC for a 7:00 PM match.
