Volleyball Remains Perfect At Home With Win Over East Carolina

Box Score WASHINGTON, DC --- After a stretch of seven consecutive road games, the Howard University Volleyball team returned to the friendly confines of Burr Gymnasium Tuesday evening for a non-conference matchup against East Carolina University.

The Lady Bison proceeded to claim a four-set victory over Pirates to improve to 11-5 on the season. HU is now 3-0 on the season in home matches.

Howard and ECU played an evenly matched first set, with no team leading by more than 3 points during the entire set. The Pirates would eventually take the set by a score of 28-26.

Both teams would play close to each other throughout the remainding three sets, but it would be Howard that would prevail by outhitting (.257 - .247) and notching more kills (41-37) in the final three games 

Junior Assata Conway played a strong offensive game, leading the team in kills (16) while posting the best attack percentage (.429) of Howard's three double-digit attackers. Reigning MEAC Rookie of the Week Katherine Broussard chipped in with 14 kills, while junior Meagan Lagerlef added 10. MEAC Player of the Week Stephanie Shultis had nine kills and a game-high 42 assists while junior Allyson Lods and freshman Morgan Marbrough combined for 31 of the team's 53 digs.

Howard will open MEAC North Division play when they travel to Delaware State for a 5:00 PM matchup on Monday, September 30.
