In 2026, Mike Andrews returns to the Howard University football team as assistant special teams coach and Executive Director of the 1867 Flight Club Collective, Howard University Football’s NIL nonpro?t entity.

Andrews comes back to Howard after spending three seasons at Bowie State University (2023-25) where he served as Special Teams Coordinator. In that role, Andrews was responsible for coaching the Bulldogs’ kicking units and all aspects of special teams play, helping to improve performance in kicko?, punt return, ?eld goal and coverage units — key phases that contributed to the overall team success on the ?eld where they were routinely ranked in the top three in the CIAA, along with producing six All-CIAA Special Teams performers.

In his ?rst stint at Howard, Andrews served as Special Teams and Kicking Coach for six seasons (2011-16) where he produced ?ve All-MEAC honorees while contributing to the Bison’s ?rst winning seasons in a decade (2012). During his tenure, he helped develop the top special teams units in the MEAC.

Andrews also held previous special teams/kicking coach spots at almost every level of football, including his alma mater Morgan State University, Salve Regina University, Howard University, University of Arizona, Bowie State University and the D.C. Defenders of the XFL. Andrews also coached at the high school level at Bishop McNamara and Riverdale Baptist High School.

While at Morgan State, Andrews was a record-holder specialist throughout the MEAC. During his tenure, he was named to the all-conference team as a placekicker and punter during his three seasons with the Bears. Additionally, Andrews was a three-time Academic All-American and was selected multiple times as MEAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
