In 2023, Elijah Coleman joined the Howard University football coaching staff after a successful playing career at The Mecca. Two years later (2025), he was promoted to cornerbacks coach.
In 2024, Coleman served as an assistant defensive back coach where he mentored Kenny Gallop Jr. and Robert Jones III to All-MEAC status. Additionally, Gallop was selected to the BOXTOROW HBCU All-American Team.
In 2023, Coleman served as a quality control coach (defense) where he helped the Bison win their second straight MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) championship and first ever berth to the Cricket Celebration Bowl.
From 2019-22, Coleman was a member of the Bison Football team. In 2021, he played in 10 contests with two INTs. In his final season, he guided the program to its first conference title since 1993.
Off the field, he was named to the MEAC Football All-Academic Team and Commissioner's All-Academic Team.
Coleman graduated from Howard in mathematics.
