In 2025, Gary Harrell Jr. returns to the Howard University football team as video & film coordinator.

Before coming back to Howard, he spent the 2024 campaign at Grambling State University as director of video services.

In 2023, he returned to his alma mater Alabama State University as director of video services.

In 2021, Harrell earned his first full-time role as video coordinator at Tuskegee University.

Harrell transition from the field to the sidelines as student coach at Alabama State, providing film breakdowns and assisting in opponent scout practice. In his senior year, he charted defensive plays for all games during the 2019 season.

While an undergrad at Howard, he started on the football team during the 2016 campaign before transferring to Alabama State.

Harrell was born in Miami.
