Keenan Carter

In 2017, Keenan Carter joined the Howard University football staff as its defensive line coach.

Prior to coming to Howard, Carter spent two seasons at Bridgewater College (BC) as the defensive line coach (2015-16). In 2015, the BC defensive line featured two All-State selections in Logan Whitaker (also a first team All-ODAC choice) and Nick Cawthon (second team All-ODAC). Two more Eagle linemen (JP Utz and Sammie Harper) were named to the All-Conference Team in 2016.

Carter was at Potomac High School where he coached for three years (2012-14), including the last two as defensive coordinator (2013-14). He led a 2014 defense that did not allow a 100-yard rusher all season.

Carter, who was also a special education teacher at Potomac, previously coached at Patriot High School, handling tight ends and then defensive linemen.

A two-year starter at nose guard for the University of Virginia, Carter graduated from UVa with a degree in sociology. He later earned a master's of education degree from Grand Canyon University.
