WASHINGTON & FAIRFAX, Va. (September 25, 2026) — Howard University men's swimming & diving team opened its new campaign with a second-place finish at the annual Potomac Relays, hosted by George Mason.
Collectively, HU scored 318 points with five first-place finishes.

Ameer Bashir (Harley, Del.), junior
Mark Brown (Greensboro, N.C.) and sophomores
Kaleb James (Durham, N.C.) and
Ayrton Moncur (Nassau, Bahamas) won the 400 Medley Relay, clocking in at 3:35.25.

Mason Green (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) represented Bison Nation in the 3x100 Free Relay, winning with a 2:30.43 time.

Anpherne Bernard (Trinidad & Tobago) earned gold in the 3x100 Breast Relay (2:55.59).

Arvid Farro (Aruba) opened the afternoon with a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay (1:33.26).

Eltonte Leonard closed out the day with silver in the 200 Free Relay (1:24.89).

Jalen Stewart (New Castle, Del.) and rookie
Alain Briggs (Mesa, Ariz.) took second overall in the 500 Free Relay, producing a 4:11.08 mark.
George Mason won the 2026 Potomac Relays, recording 342 points.
Other notable worthy performances in the pool included Briggs and second-year Bison
Solomon Goins (Dallas) claiming second in the 2x500 Free Relay (9:40.99).
On the board, sophomore
Trevor Sewell (Decatur, Ga.) won the 1-meter (253.80) and 3-meter (209.15) dives. Both events took place on the campus of American.
Saturday (Oct. 10), Howard returns to Burr Gym Pool to host crosstown rival Georgetown in the annual Battle at The Burr. The first race is scheduled for 2 p.m.
