BALTIMORE (April 18, 2026) – Junior sprinter
Yahnari Lyons (Hampton, Ga.) led the Howard University women's track & field program in an action-packed weekend with the Bison competing across three states: Tom Jones Memorial (April 17-18), hosted by the Florida Gators; Virginia Challenge (April 16-18), hosted by the Cavaliers, and Morgan State Legacy (April 17-18), hosted by the Bears.
TOM JONES MEMORIAL
Lyons headlined the Bison, winning the 200-meter dash with a 22.34 mark. For her efforts, she posted the second-fastest time in the nation.
Newcomer
Carrie Vannoy (Oak Park, Mich.) placed seventh overall in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 14.02.
Fellow classmate
Nilijah Darden (Greensboro, N.C.) took eighth in the 100-meter dash, producing an 11.66 time.
In the field, senior
Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) claimed fourth overall in the triple jump after leaping 12.75 meters (41'10").
VIRGINIA CHALLENGE
Second-year Bison
Tiffany Mugubi (Houston) led the charge in Charlottesville, earning fourth in the 800-meter run (2:04.86).
MORGAN STATE LEGACY
Senior
Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) won a pair of events in the shot put (14.00 meters) and discus (45.05 meters). Sophomore
Kinnidi Hampton (Rowlette, Texas) also competed in the same events, securing second (13.26 meters) and sixth (38.22 meters), respectively.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On April 23-25, HU goes to the City of Brotherly Love for the prestigious Penn Relays.
