WASHINGTON (April 11, 2026) – Howard University women's track & field squad won the Bison Classic for the fourth straight year in D.C. HU and Gallaudet co-hosted the annual event for the fourth consecutive year.
HU tallied 124 points, edging out crosstown rival George Washington by one point (123 points). Bowie State finished in third place with 84 points.
In the field, senior
Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) and sophomore
Kinnidi Hampton (Rowlette, Texas) earned first (13.39 meters) and second (12.42 meters), respectively, in the shot put. The duo also competed in the hammer throw, landing second (47.46 meters) and fourth 43.65 meters), respectively.
Second-year Bison
Jasmen Walker (Flossmoor, Ill.) won gold in the triple jump, leaping 11.33 meters. The Florida product also found success on the track, winning the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.58 mark.
Four Bison ran in the 400-meter dash where sophomore
Tiffany Mugubi (Houston) claimed the top spot (55.44). Senior
Sanaa Morris (Bermuda), sophomore
Brooke Cochran (Silver Spring, Md.) and freshman
Sadie Sanders (Santa Rosa, Calif.) earned second (57.72), third (57.73) and fourth (58.11), respectively.
Cochran, Sanders and Morris also took part in the 200-meter dash, placing first (24.74), second (24.79) and fourth (25.35), respectively.
Junior
Sarah Seam (Gaithersburg, Md.) and rookie
Alexis Jones (New Windsor, N.Y.) grabbed second (2:13.90) and third (2:16.54), respectively, in the 800-meter run.
Other notable performance on the track included second-year Bison
Ester Kirk (Morristown, N.J.) taking fifth place in the 1500-meter run (4:42.67).
HU heads down to Gainesville, Fla., to compete in the Tom Jones Memorial (April 17-18), hosted by the Florida Gators.
