WASHINGTON (January 15, 2026) – Howard University women's bowling team returns from the winter break for the annual Northeast Classic, hosted by Sacred Heart University in New Castle, Del.

Before the winter break, HU competed in the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational (Nov. 15-16), hosted by rival Coppin State (CSU) University, in Gwynn Oak, Md.
Junior
Jewel Johnson (Harrisburg, Pa.) led the way, tallying 844 total pinfalls (168.8 avg.) in five traditional matches.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
This year's tournament features several ranked teams across the nation. The Northeast Classic is one of the largest tournaments in the country. The event hosted 38 squads a year ago, the largest in NCAA women's bowling history.
Last year's Northeast Classic champion Nebraska will be defending its title.
The tournament begins Friday (Jan. 16) with five baker matches. The following day (Jan. 17), HU competes in five traditional matches. Sunday (Jan. 18), Howard concludes the weekend three best-of-7 baker matches.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Jan. 23-25, HU goes to Woodbridge, Va., for the Hawk Classic, hosted by rival Maryland Eastern Shore.
