Swimming & Diving Returns for a Pair of Dual Meets

Bison host Towson Wednesday; HU goes to VMI Friday

WASHINGTON (January 13, 2026) – Howard University men's and women's swimming & diving teams return from the winter break for a pair of dual meets.
 
Wednesday (Jan. 14), the Bison host Towson inside Burr Gym Pool. Meet time is slated for 3:30 p.m. Two days later (Jan. 16), HU travels to Lexington, Va., to battle VMI. First race is set for 2 p.m.

MEET PREVIEW
 
HOWARD
 
HU men (1-4) are led by junior Mason Green (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and newcomer Solomon Goins (Dallas). Green has made the CSCAA B-cut in three events: 50 Fly (22.00); 100 Fly (48.12) and 200 Fly (1:50.29). For Goins, he made the CSCAA B-cut in the 1650 Free (16:42.32); 200 Fly (1:50.24) and 400 IM (4:04.48).
 
On the women's side (2-3), third-year Bison Chanice Posada (Houston) has made the CSCAA B-cut in five events: 200 Back (2:00.34); 50 Fly (25.14); 50 Back (25.73); 100 Back (54.51) and IM (57.98).
 
Freshman Zenya Posada (Norwalk, Conn.) has made the CSCAA A-cut in the 50 Back, clocking in at 25.27.
 
TOWSON
 
Towson men come in with a 3-2 dual meet record. Jed Garner lead the squad, winning CAA (Coastal Athletic Association) Men's Swimmer of the Week twice this season.
 
On the women's side, the Tigers enter with a 4-1 dual meet mark. Shannon Parrau dominates the board, earning CAA Women's Diver of the Week four times this year.
 
VMI
 
VMI men rolls into the weekend with a 2-3 mark, including a victory over the Bison, 201-98, back in November.
 
For the women, they are seeking their first dual win of the season. On Nov. 8, the Keydets fell to HU, 194-101.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Dec. 5-6, HU closed out 2025 at the JHU Invitational, hosted by John Hopkins in Baltimore.
 
On the women's side, C. Posada and senior Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) led the way with record-setting performances. Nwaeze won the 100 Free with a new facility benchmark of 51.03 while the Houston native claimed gold in the 100 Fly (55.91), which is also a new facility record.
 
For the men, senior Taj Benton (Baltimore) led the charge with a third-place finish in the 100 Free (46.78).
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Jan. 31, HU faces Catholic on Senior Day. First race is scheduled for 1 p.m.
