WASHINGTON (March 29, 2025) – Howard University women's tennis team came up short against North Carolina Central (NCCU), falling to the Eagles, 4-3, in a MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) showdown at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's (WTEF) East Capitol Campus.
HU took the early match lead, 1-0, winning two-out-of-three doubles contests.

Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) blanked NCCU's Patricia Palencia and Gabriela Mejia, 6-0.

Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) extended their doubles win streak to three after knocking off North Carolina Central's Mariana Zottoli and Valeria San Miguel, 6-2.
In singles competition, Jean topped Palencia in a hard-fought three-set match (6-2, 4-6, 6-3) while Chambers took down NCCU's Valentina De Aquino in straight sets (6-1, 6-3).
Pegram served in the No. 1 slot where she dropped a three-set contest to North Carolina Central's Alejandra Hidalgo (4-6, 6-1, 5-7).
NCCU (7-7, 2-0 MEAC) won the other three singles matches to win the match, 4-3.
Howard (5-7, 0-2 MEAC) wraps up the MEAC Round Up versus rival Norfolk State Sunday (March 30). First-serve starts at 9 a.m., at the WTEF East Capitol Campus in D.C.
