GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 2, 2025) – Howard University women's bowling team placed 10
th overall at the annual Stallings Invitational, hosted by conference rival No. 6 North Carolina A&T State (NCAT) in Greensboro, N.C.
During the three-day event (Feb. 28-March 2), HU grabbed three victories while competing tough against the nation's top teams.
On Day One (Feb. 28), Howard dropped the first three Baker matches before closing the afternoon with wins over Belmont Abbey College, 857-769, and Lewis, 911-817.
HU came up short in all four traditional matches against national championship contenders the following day (March 1). Howard battled despite the losses, including close bouts to No. 2 Vanderbilt, 937-936, and the host Aggies, 958-933.
Third-year Bison
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) led the charge, tallying 1,131 pinfalls (188.5 average) in six traditional contests. The Chicago native placed 17
th overall, rolling a 219 versus NCAT. Fellow classmate
Janae Pugh (Chicago) also had a solid outing against the Aggies, registering a 190.
Junior
Sydney Allison (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and sophomore
Jewel Johnson (Harrisburg, Pa.) recorded a 236 and 222, respectively, against Vandy.
Howard topped Southern in a Baker best-of-seven matchup on the final day (March 2), defeating the Tigers in seven, 4-3.
Vandy won the 2025 Stallings Invite, followed by No. 3 Jacksonville State.
On March 7-9, several Bison are set to compete in the USBC (United States Bowling Congress) ISC/ITC Sectionals.
