SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 16, 2025) – Howard University women's bowling team wrapped up the weekend on a high note at the annual Music City Classic, hosted by No. 3 Vanderbilt.
Overall, the Bison won five matches in Tennessee.
On Day One (March 14), HU dropped four Baker contests, including a pair of matchups versus nationally ranked Vandy, 803-1,077, and No. 13 Wisconsin-Whitewater, 872-885, but knocked off Aurora, 867-863.
Howard bounced back the next day (March 15), winning two traditional matches against William Smith College, 775-760, and Illinois Wesleyan, 767-531. Sophomore transfer
Jewel Johnson (Harrisburg, Pa.) guided the Bison to victory over William Smith, producing a 215.
Third-year Bison
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) led the charge with 1,057 total pinfalls (176.2 average) in six contests.
Fellow Chicago natives
Simone Ashford and
Janae Pugh each competed in five traditional matches, rolling a 197 and 207, respectively, versus No. 11 Louisiana Tech.
HU dropped its final traditional match to No. 9 Stephen F. Austin on the final day (March 15), but closed out the weekend with victories over Aurora, 4-2, and Belmont Abbey, 4-2, in two Baker best-of-seven matchups.
Collectively, HU finished 25
th in the field.
No. 4 Youngstown State won the 2025 Music City Classic, knocking off No. 2 Jacksonville State in seven. No. 10 Maryville placed third overall, followed by Vandy.
On March 21-23, Howard goes to Raleigh, N.C., for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship.
