Women's Track and Field Earns Fourth Consecutive Indoor Title

Crosby, Banwo and Coach Oliver named most outstanding of the meet

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (February 24, 2025) – Howard University women's track and field earned its fourth consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championship title Monday evening at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
 
Junior Jazmyn Wajd (Tampa, Fla.) earned her silver medal in the triple jump, leaping 12.48 meters.
 
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom) followed up with a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, running the event in 8.17 seconds.
 
Senior sprinter Kailei Collins (Houston) defended her 60-meter crown, winning the event with a PR (personal best) of 7.34. Collins later went on to win the 200-meter dash (23.61), sweeping the podium with Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.).
 
Standout distance runner Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, LA) won the 1K race (5:05.69) before racking up her third top finish of the week in the 5K (18:14.00). Freshman Mira Martin (Columbus, Ohio) joined Crosby on the podium for the 5K, earning silver with a time of 18:15.14.
 
Freshman Tiffany Mugubi (Houston) earned bronze in the 800-meter (2:13.79), earning the Bison six points.
 
In the pit, Nneka Ezeama (Smithfield, R.I.) and Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) took first (14.15 meters) and second (13.85 meters), respectively.
 
Kiya Lawson (Montclair, N.J.) added another victory for the Bison in the 400-meter dash (54.65). Teammate Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburg, N.C.) was not far behind, placing second in the event with a time of 54.97.
 
Howard A relay team consisting of Lawson, Woodruff, Lindsay Johnson (Detriot), Cenaiya Billups (Denver) dominated the 4x400 relay, beating the competing by a full eight seconds (3:40.78).
 
In total, the Bison set a new MEAC championship record with 256 team points.
 
Crosby was named the 2025 MEAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Outstanding Runner of the Meet after scoring 30 individual points. Banwo was named a 2025 MEAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Co-Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet after scoring 16 points. Howard Director of Track & Field David Oliver was named the meet's Most Outstanding Coach for the fourth consecutive year.
 
Next, the Bison will compete in the HBCU Indoor Championships, held in Louisville, Ky. (March 7-8).
