GENEVA, Ohio (February 20, 2025) – Howard University men's swimming & diving team extended its lead after Day Two of the Northeast (NEC) Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
Graduate
Tristan Stevens (Chicago), seniors
Tai Afrik (Holland, Mich.) and
Darin Johnson (Atascocita, Texas) and junior
Taj Benton (Baltimore) represented Bison Nation in the 200 Free Relay where they placed second with a 1:21.88 time.
Johnson and Stevens competed in the 50 Free, finishing second (20.32) and fourth (20.57), respectively.
Third-year Bison
Darien Williams (Philadelphia) took sixth overall in the 500 Free, clocking in at 4:40.13.
Despite not medaling in the 200 IM, Howard saw five Bison make the final round: Afrik; senior
Erald Thompson III (Nassau, Bahamas); sophomores
Ameer Bashir (Hartley, Del.) and
Mason Green (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and rookie
Mark Brown (Greensboro, N.C.). Collectively, they scored 65 points in the race to help extend the team's lead after two days.
Overall, HU has scored 326 points, followed by Wagner (281 points), LIU (214 points) and Le Moyne (189 points).
The NEC Championships continues Friday (Feb. 21) with prelims at 10 a.m., followed the final round at 6 p.m.
