FORT MEAD, Md. (February 16, 2025) – Howard University women's bowling team placed sixth overall at the annual James Brown Invitational (JBI), hosted by conference rival Morgan State in Fort Mead, Md.
Howard opened the three-day event (Feb. 14-16) with four Baker matches. After dropping the first three contests, HU closed out Day One with a victory over Bowie State (BSU), 782-753.
The following day (Feb. 15), HU competed in five traditional matches where junior bowler
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) led the way. The Chicago native tallied 939 total pins in five matchups, averaging 187.80 per game. In the loss to rival No. 18 Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), she rolled a 215.
HU dropped the other four traditional matches. Third-year Bison
Sydney Allison (Ypsilanti, Mich.) recorded a season-high (230) in the setback against No. 11 Sacred Heart (SHU).
Howard wrapped up the weekend with a pair of Baker best-of-seven contests. HU defeated BSU in six games, 4-2, before falling to MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) foe Coppin State in six games, 4-2.
SHU won the 2025 JBI title, knocking off UMES in five games, 4-1.
On Feb. 22-23, HU heads to Dover, Del., for the MEAC Meet No. 2, hosted by Delaware State University.
