BALTIMORE (December 6, 2025) – Howard University men's and women's swimming & diving teams closed out 2025 at the JHU Invitational, hosted by John Hopkins in Baltimore.
On the women's side, senior
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) and junior
Chanice Posada (Houston) led the way with record-setting performances. Nwaeze won the 100 Free with a new facility benchmark of 51.03 while the Houston native claimed gold in the 100 Fly (55.91), which is also a new facility record. The Maryland product and senior
Samyra Benoit (Santa Clarita) also competed in the 100 Fly, finishing second (56.47) and third (57.32), respectively.
Other noteworthy performance included freshman
Brooke Whitt (Chicago) winning the 100 Breast, clocking in at 1:06.21.
For the men, senior
Taj Benton (Baltimore) led the charge with a third-place finish in the 100 Free (46.78).
The Baltimore native and rookie
Kaleb James (Durham, N.C.) took part in the 100 Fly, producing times of 49.90 (fourth place) and 50.74 (fifth place), respectively.
Senior
Ty Triche (Humble, Texas) found success in the 100 Back, earning fourth place (54.97).
Third-year Bison
Ameer Bashir (Hartley, Del.) competed in the 200 Back where he landed fourth overall (1:59.16).
On Jan. 14, HU returns to action versus Towson inside Burr Gym Pool.
