BALTIMORE, Md. – Howard men's swimming and diving team put together a series of strong individual efforts at Saturday's UMBC Tri-Meet, highlighted by junior
Mason Green (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), who swept the butterfly events with two standout performances.
Green dominated the 200-yard butterfly, winning in 1:54.08 and setting a new season best by nearly four-tenths of a second. Later in the meet, he completed the sweep by claiming first in the 100-yard butterfly (49.77), pacing a deep Bison field.
Freshman
Solomon Goins (Dallas, Texas) made an immediate impact in his first 200 fly race of the season, finishing second in 1:55.00, just behind Green, in an event debut that showcased his potential.
Additional strong performances came from veterans
Taj Benton (Baltimore, Md.),
Jalen Stewart (New Castle, Del.), and
Darien Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.), who contributed valuable points in sprint and relay events. The Bison also received key efforts on the boards from
Kai Lawson (Bethesda, Md.) and
Trevor Sewell (Decatur, Ga.) in the diving competition.
The Bison return to the pool on Friday, November 14th at 2 PM when they travel to Emmitsburg, MD to face Mount St. Mary's.
