MIDLOTHIAN, Va. (November 2, 2025) – Howard University women's bowling team opened the new season with a second-place finish at the Virginia Union (VUU) Invitational, hosted by the Panthers.
After dropping the season opener to Central Missouri, 940-815, the Bison won back-to-back Baker contests against the Panthers, 764-411, and Florida A&M, 845-745. HU closed out Day One with an 831-783 loss to rival Morgan State.
Howard competed in four traditional matches the following day (Nov. 1), going 3-1 overall. HU topped Fayetteville State, 794-724, Virginia State, 751-574, and VUU, 795-455.
Junior
Jewel Johnson (Harrisburg, Pa.) led the Bison, tallying 883 total pins in five traditional contests (176.6 pinfall avg.). Senior
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago), preseason All-MEAC selection, recorded 821 total pinfalls in five traditional matches (164.2 pinfall avg.).
On the final day (Nov. 2), HU defeated Fayetteville State, 4-3, and Morgan State, 4-1, in Baker best-of-seven before falling to Central Missouri in the championship round, 4-3.
Central Missouri won the 2025 VUU Invitational after going a perfect 10-0 during the three-day tourney.
On Nov. 8-9, HU goes to Towson, Md., for the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Meet No. 2, hosted by Morgan State.
