NEWARK, N.J. (October 11,2025) — Howard University men's swimming earned second overall at the NJIT Invitational, hosted by the Highlanders in Newark, N.J.
Senior
Taj Benton (Baltimore) led the Bison with a victory in the 50 Free, clocking in at 21.44. Second-year Bison
Mason Green (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) also competed in the race, finishing behind the Baltimore native (21.47).

Jalen Stewart (New Castle, Del.) competed in the 200 Free where they placed second (1:42.97) and third (1:43.22), respectively.

Mark Brown (Greensboro, N.C.) and rookie
Kaleb James (Durham, N.C.) opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay (1:32.93). The four Bison also competed in the 400 Medley Relay, securing third place with a 3:24.83 mark.

Ibrahima Diouf (Arlington, Va.) represented Bison Nation in the 200 Free Relay where they took second overall (1:24.83). The four swimmers also took part in the 400 Free Relay, earning second with a 3:06.38 time.
The 800 Free Relay squad of Stewart, seniors
Ty Triche (Humble, Texas) and
Darien Williams (Philadelphia) and newcomer
Solomon Goins (Dallas) grabbed third overall, producing a 7:09.83 time.
Other notable performance included junior
Adam Diaz (Manhattan, N.Y.) claiming bronze in the 100 Back (52.61).
Collectively, HU scored 859.5 points during the two-day span. NJIT won the event, posting 1,121 points.
Friday (Oct. 31), the Bison come home to host American University in a dual meet at The Burr. First race is slated for 6 p.m.
