RALEIGH, N.C. (March 24, 2024) – Howard University women's bowling team took third overall at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship, falling to No. 5 North Carolina A&T State (NCAT) in the consolation final.
Despite the loss, HU had a Cinderella run with multiple upsets throughout. Entering the weekend, Howard secured the final slot.
Sophomore
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) led the charge throughout, averaging 199.8 in five traditional matches. The Chicago native produced three 200 games, including a match-high 235 in the loss to NCAT. For her efforts, she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
HU opened the match with a narrow lost to North Carolina A&T State in traditional play, 987-946.
Rookie
Simone Ashford (Chicago), sophomore
Sydney Allison (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and senior
Aleyana DeBrest (Philadelphia) each had solid performances, recording 190, 189 and 183, respectively.
NCAT down the Bison in Baker play, 948-841, and eliminated HU from title contention.
North Carolina A&T State went on to face Maryland Easten Shore (UMES) in the title match where the Hawks knocked off NCAT in six games, 4-2. UMES won its 11
th MEAC title in program history.
For HU, they return several Bison, including Sullivan, in their pursuit to win its first MEAC Title.
