SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 17, 2024) – Howard University women's bowling team closed out the regular season at the annual Music City Classic, hosted by reigning National Champion No. 5 Vanderbilt in Smyrna, Tenn.
Collectively, HU grabbed three victories over the weekend while surpassing its win total a year ago (28).
After a slow start on Day One (0-5), including setbacks against No. 20 McKendree, 770-927, and No. 7 Louisiana Tech, 810-1059, HU went 2-2 in traditional play with wins over Mount Aloysius, 875-693, and Carthage College, 872-820.
All-MEAC selection sophomore
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) led the way, knocking down 899 total pins while averaging 179.8 in five matches.
Lone senior
Aleyana DeBrest (Philadelphia) rolled 178.2 in four traditional contests while second-year Bison
Sydney Allison (Ypsilanti, Mich.) produced 865 total pin knockdowns, averaging 173.0 in five games.
Howard finished the weekend with a 4-3 victory over Adelphi in a Baker best-of-seven match.
HU took 31
st overall in the tournament.
No. 1 Jacksonville State won the 2024 Music City Classic, defeating No. 3 Youngstown State in six games.
On March 22-24, Howard goes to Raleigh, N.C., for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship. The three-day event takes place at Buffaloe Lanes North (5900 Oak Forest Drive, Raleigh, NC 27616).
