Bowling Picks Up Wins Before MEAC Championships

Bison ranked eighth ahead of competition

WASHINGTON (February 18, 2024) - Howard University bowling team stepped up in the MEAC No. 2 playoffs to position themselves a spot in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship in March.

The Bison picked up a 915-814 win over Coppin State to start the MEAC Meet.

As the eighth seed, Howard will have to work their way up through the rankings to capture a spot in the championship round. The tournament will be a double elimination tournament format, using the mega match arrangement.

Sophomore Cameron Sullivan (Chicago), Aleyana DeBrest (Philadelphia) and Sydney Allison (Ypsilanti, Mich.) will have to repeat their past performance from MEAC No. 2, along with Simone Ashford (Chicago), Janae Pugh (Chicago), Ryleigh Ferguson (Stafford, Va.) and newcomer Kayla Mitchell (Wasilla, Alaska).

Bison head coach Ron Davis and his staff has worked extremely hard to get the Bison ready for this moment.

"One thing about these ladies, as soon as they accomplish one thing, they set a higher goal," said Coach Davis. "This is how they are in the classroom, so why not in the field of competition?"

The MEAC Championships will be held in Raleigh, N.C. (March 22-24). The Bison will start the competition facing off against No. 4 North Carolina A&T State at 9 a.m. Friday (March 22).
