WASHINGTON (November 1, 2024) – Howard University men's swimming & diving team grabbed six wins Friday night, but came up short against crosstown rival American, 125.5-117.5.
Senior
Tai Afrik (Holland, Mich.), juniors
Taj Benton (Baltimore) and
Daren Rodgers (Chicago) and sophomore
Kristopher Lawson (Gaithersburg, Md.) capped off the night, winning the 200 Free Relay with a 1:24.78 mark.
Individually, Lawson and Rodgers competed in the 50 Free where they placed first (21.46) and third (22.04), respectively.
Afrik took home gold in the 200 Free, clocking in at 1:44.24.
Seniors
Darin Johnson (Atascocita, Texas) and
Erald Thompson III (Nassau, Bahamas) and newcomer
Mark Brown (Greensboro, N.C.) swept the 200 Breast with times of 2:10.64 (first), 2:11.65 (second) and 2:15.25 (third), respectively.
Third-year Bison
Darien Williams (Philadelphia) won the 200 Back with a 1:56.03 time.
On the board, senior
Zay Swilley (Bradley, Ill.) earned first place in the 1-meter dive, scoring 282.07 points.
Saturday (Nov. 16), the Bison will host Mount St. Mary's in a dual meet. The race will begin at 1 p.m.
