WASHINGTON (October 5, 2024) - Howard University swimming and diving packed The Burr for the third year in a row for Saturday afternoon's Battle at the Burr III, facing crosstown rival Georgetown in the most anticipated dual meet of the season.

Both squads fell to the Hoyas with men coming up short, 117-107, and the women falling 133-90.

MEN
Â
The men's program garnered six top finishes, the first being one of Howard's strong suits – the 200 Medley Relay. HU's A-Relay squad consisting of
Tristan Stevens (Chicago),
Darin Johnson (Atascocita, Texas),
Kristopher Lawson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and
Taj Benton (Baltimore) came in with a time of 1:31.03 – less than a second ahead of the competition.

Mason Green (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) bested the Hoyas, posting his 200 Free time of 1:42.53 – a full two minutes ahead of the competition to his right.

Seven events later, Benton swam his way to an individual top finish in the 100 Fly, registering a time of 50.56.

Green again found his way to the top when his 47.05 swim in the 100 Free edged out the competition by 0.73 seconds.

Stevens notched an individual finish in the 100 Back with his time of 51.57.

In one of the most exciting races of the day, the men finished out strong in the 200 Free Relay. A crowd and program favorite, the Bison narrowly escaped the Hoyas with a time of 1:23.36, just 0:00.11 shy of Georgetown's A relay squad.

WOMEN
Â
The women's program garnered five top finishes, the first thanks to powerhouse
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) recording a 1:53.91 mark in the 200 Free.

Senior
Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) earned nine points for the Bison with her time of 2:07.79 in the 200 IM. The time marks the fourth highest in program history.

Jasmine Morgan (Chicago) posted an individual top finish in the 100 Free, swimming in 54.37 seconds.

Backstroke Barbie
Chanice Posada (Houston) stayed true to her name, winning the 100 Back with a time of 58.44 in a down-to-the-wire race.

In the final win of the night, Thompson posted another program mark in the 100 Breast. Her swim of 1:06.09 comes in at No. 6 in program record books.
