NEW CASTLE, Del. (October 13, 2024) – Howard University women's bowling team opened the new season in New Castle, Del., for the annual Bud Whitman Memorial, hosted by Chestnut Hill College.
During the two-day event (Oct. 12-13), HU grabbed its lone win of the weekend in a Baker best-of-seven matchup against Saint Anslem College. Howard outlasted the Hawks, 4-3.
HU dropped a tough Baker seven against Caldwell, falling to the Cougars, 4-3.
Howard went 1-8 overall over the weekend.
Second-year Bison
Simone Ashford (Chicago) led the Bison, tallying 923 total pinfalls (184. 6 avg.) in five traditional matches, including a 234 in the loss to Wilmington (Del.).
Junior
Sydney Allison (Ypsilanti, Mich.) posted a 178.8 average in five traditional games, including a 223 against No. 20 FDU.
On Oct. 25-27, HU goes to Midlothian, Va., for the Virginia Union Invitational, hosted by the Panthers.
