Howard Football enjoyed a 2023 campaign that saw us win back-to-back MEAC championships and earn a bid to the Celebration Bowl!
Along the way, head coach Larry Scott was named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award, which recognizes the top coach in FCS Football, earned HBCU Coach of the Year honors from the College Football Network, and was selected as a head coach for the 2024 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl. Defensive lineman Darrian Brokenburr, offensive lineman Anim Dankwah, running back/return specialist Ian Wheeler, and quarterback Quinton Williams are among the Bison competing in this year's game.
Dankwah accepted an invite to the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl, the longest-running college all-star football game in the nation.
At the end of the regular season, the Bison had 14 players earn All-MEAC recognition, with defensive back Kenny Gallop, Jr. being voted as the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year. Gallop was recognized for the honor as part of the events surrounding the 65th Annual National Football Foundation (NFF) Awards Dinner in Las Vegas. Gallop also earned the 2023 Aeneas Williams Award given to the top defensive back in HBCU Division I college football, and received a number of All-America accolades, including along with Dankwah and Da'Metrius Weatherspoon.
Howard Football was recognized for dominance inside the classroom, when the Bison had a league-leading 42 players named the 2023 MEAC Football All-Academic Team.
