WASHINGTON (August 25, 2023) – Recently, the Howard University football team wrapped up its second scrimmage of the fall and it is time to ramp up preparation for the upcoming 2023 college season.
Head Coach Larry Scott is pleased with how the team is performing, maturing and heading into the season despite the first 10 days of fall camp being the most challenging days.
"You had five acclimation days where players were getting used to carrying around their equipment," Scott said. "It's hot and the competitive juices were flowing. We were focused and dialed in."
Scott is proud of how the team worked together and motivated each other to thoroughly learn the playbook. He feels the players have matured and looked at fall camp as a learning and growing opportunity, both as individuals and as a team.
"We're trending in the right direction," Scott continued.
For now, you have to feel good about where HU is heading into the season. The weapons are present, but the foundation in the trenches is also encouraging.
"Each day the team gets 1-percent better," Howard Director of Football Operations David Davis said. "We are confident that if they continue this trend, by Week One, the team will be more than ready for Eastern Michigan on Sept. 1."
Howard Athletics recently announced the sale of individual and season ticket packages. Buy tickets online ahead of time and avoid the game day up-charge.
