WASHINGTON (July 24, 2023) – The Bluebloods uncovered its 2023 Preseason All-Conference Team for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) where Howard University had 14 Bison recognized. The announcement Thursday (July 20).
HU had seven Bison on the First Team, led by graduate offensive lineman
Anim Dankwah (Accra, Ghana) and senior defensive back
Kenny Gallop, Jr. (Portsmouth, Va.). Dankwah was recently named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 List after starting all 11 games a year ago while the Virginia native topped the conference with 58 solo tackles (89 total).
Other notable Bison on the Preseason First Team included graduate defensive lineman
Jevin Jackson (Lawrenceville, Ga.), senior tight end
Brennan Brown (Dallas, Texas), senior wideout
Kasey Hawthorne (Sebring, Fla.), senior running back
Jarett Hunter (Mineral, Va.) and junior offensive lineman
Darius Fox (Washington).
Graduates defensive lineman
Darrian Brokenburr (Manassas, Va.) and quarterback
Quinton Williams (Upper Marlboro, Md.) headlined the Second Team. Williams accounted for 21 total TDs (16 passing, four rushing & one receiving) while the Virginia native had 21 total tackles (10 solos) in six games.,
Five other Bison joined White and Williams on the Second Team: graduate offensive lineman
DeShawn Ingram (Detroit); running back graduate
Ian Wheeler (Houston); junior
Nah'shawn Hezekiah (Orangeburg, S.C.); junior
Terrance Hollon (Cleveland) and junior defensive back
Robert Jones III (Fairwood, Md.).
All six football-playing institutions were represented, led by North Carolina Central with 15 selections, followed by HU (14).
Howard is set to open the 2023 season against Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan Friday (Sept. 1). Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
