WASHINGTON (April 8, 2023) – Howard University women's track & field team claimed the 2023 Bison Classic crown after scoring 188 points. The one-day event took place on the campus of Gallaudet University (GU), hosted by GU and HU.
On the day, Howard won seven events overall.
Junior
Kaya-Rae Dunbar (Burtonsville, Md.) earned first in the 200-meter dash (24.61) and 100-meter hurdles (13.52), respectively.
Second-year Bison
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) and senior
Breanna McDonald (Bethesda, Md.) claimed the top two spots in the 5000-meter run, clocking in at 19:32.05 and 19:34.48, respectively.
Sophomore
Olivia Clines (St. Louis) placed first in the 400-meter hurdles, producing a 1:06.25 time.
Seniors
De'ja Dade (DeSoto, Texas) and
Ja'Tae Joyner (Bowie, Md.) took home gold and silver in the 100-meter dash, registering times of 12.00 and 12.57, respectively.
In the field events, Joyner won the triple jump after leaping 11.91 meters.
Sophomore
Jasmyn Hunter (Flossmoor, Ill.) earned gold in the long jump, catapulting 5.57 meters.
Delaware State finished second overall (128.5 points), followed by UDC (65 points).
HU will head to Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Invitational, hosted by Florida (April 14-15).
