WASHINGTON (February 3, 2023) – Howard University women's bowling team looks to build on last week's success at the Griffin Classic, host by Chestnut Hill College. The two-day tournament (Feb. 4-5) will take place at Bowlerrama in New Castle, Del.
Saturday's action begins at 11 a.m., followed by a 9:15 a.m. start time Sunday morning.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
The Griffin Classic features 20 program from across the East Coast, including four top 25 squads from The National Tenpin Coaches Association December Poll: No. 13 Delaware State; No. 14 Fairleigh Dickinson; No. 18 Mercyhurst and No. 25 Merrimack.
Saturday consists of five baker matches for each institution. The following day, the teams will compete in four baker matches before rounding out the afternoon with a best-of-seven baker final round.
LAST TIMEOUT
HU finished strong at the Hawk Challenge, hosted by conference rival Monmouth University, going 3-2 in traditional competition.
Freshman standout
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) finished ninth overall after rolling a 173.0 in five matches. The Chicago product posted two 200-game in the win against Molloy (201) and setback versus Bryant in the first matchup (204).
BISON TO WATCH
Sullivan leads the Bison in traditional play, averaging 174.2 pinfall. This season, she has accumulated 3,484 pinfalls with a career-high 221 game at the CSU Lady Eagles Invite (Nov. 19).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Feb. 10-12, HU travels to nearby Towson, Md., for the James Brown Invitational, hosted by Morgan State University.
