GREENSBORO, N.C. (February 26, 2023) – Howard University women's bowling team closed out the regular season on a bitter note, winning only one match at the Stallings Invitational, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University (NCAT).
HU grabbed its lone victory of the season versus rival Norfolk State in traditional play, 751-733. Freshman standout
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) led the way, rolling a team-leading 189 in the win.
Howard dropped the other four traditional matches, including setbacks to No. 2 Vanderbilt (1,032-761) and No. 25 Sacred Heart (965-688).
Sullivan competed in all six traditional matches, knocking down 1,063 pins, including 205 pinfalls against No. 2 Vandy.
Howard opened the tournament with five baker matches where they fell to four nationally ranked opponents: No. 6 NCAT (881-723); No. 10 UMES (914-794); No. 21 Lincoln (Mo.) (956-799) and No. 22 Tulane (896-759).
HU wrapped up the weekend in a best-of-seven against Belmont Abbey College, falling in six games (4-2).
On March 24-26, Howard travels to Virginia Beach, Va., for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship. The three-day event takes place at Pinboy's at the Beach [1577 Laskin Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451].
